Project 365

This will be dubbed in the history books as the week of illness at the Sircus. Trinity brought the party home from school and then it was all down hill from there. She managed to get through it farely unscathed, but she left Felicity and I with a pretty serious bug. Both F&T ended up on antibiotics and I ended up with a nasty case of bronchitis. A touch of pneumonia was the cherry on top for me and I was down for the count - for 4 days straight. Those will be days I will never get back as I barely remember anything. Whew! I pray that this was my dues for this season, cuz things get pretty hairy here when I am not in tip top shape. Thank you for your support, honey!

Incidentally, now it is Charity's turn and Bo has yet to catch it. Thank you God!

Sunday, November 15
Hangin' with the family before all heck broke loose.

Monday, November 16
This was our first all family movie night, featuring Up. It was a cute flick, but it will be a while before we can actually watch a whole movie with those nubbies around.

Tuesday, November 17
Bo stayed home from work today so I could rest. While he took Trinity to school, Felicity hung out with me and "loved on kitty". Kitty wasn't so wild about the idea, but she put up with it pretty well.

Wednesday, November 18
Today was another busy day for Bo. He waited 90 minutes at the pediatrician with Felicity and Trinity. Then he drove me to the doctor as I was heading downhill, FAST. This concoction would turn things around, but not for 2 more days.

Thursday, November 19
I had barely seen the kids all week. They snuck through the door every time it opened, but I had nothing to give them. Behind this fake smile, I was thinking, "Seriously, get these kids off of me. I am dying here, can't you see that?" But it was oh so sweet to see them.

Friday, November 20
We had 2 meals delivered this week. We have such awesome friends! I don't wish this illness on you, but I do hope you have such caring people in your lives.

Saturday, November 21
Playing in the toy basket. Super cute. Super fun.

Mom: Felicity, you shouldn't practice your left handed feeding on mommy's bed before you have even mastered getting it into your mouth with your right hand.

F: Aw mom, just let me practice. You don't feel good anyways, so just let me handle it.
M: Is it good?
F: Yes, and now I will try the other hand.

M: How about if you love on kitty?

M; What a nice girl! Do you like kitty?

M: Can you smile for mommy?

Project 365

Sunday, November 8
Grandma Robbie coloring with Charity. Charity LOVES to sit and color. She calls it "gac". She can't quite get the two syllable word, color. Grandma Robbie calls them "Crayolas". Trinity can't get over the word crayolas and has informed me more than once this week that she calls them that.

Monday, November 9
I love this sign on the way into our neighborhood. It makes me feel happy when I see it. And since fall is my favorite season, I love the trees that surround it right now.

Tuesday, November 10
What was I thinking the night I let ONE child pull up a chair to "help" with the dishes? Nothing happens by ones in our home. Now whenever I do dishes, you can hear the scratch of two little chairs being pushed across the tile to come watch and play in the water. Is it wrong that I usually "finish" the dishes before they get the chairs across the room?

Wednesday, November 11
Fingernails and toenails are a big part of my job each week. Especially when they want to make a game of it.

Thursday, November 12

Friday, November 13
Harvest Celebration at school today was so much fun. The kids got to learn about real horses and pet one, play tractor races, dress up in adult clothes and eat yummy homemade soup and fresh buttered rolls.

Saturday, November 14
Olivia and Jacqueline are two if Trinity's favorite friends from preschool. This weekend was Olivia's 4th princess tea party birthday. The girls had so much fun dressing up and eating sandwiches and drinking hot cocoa "tea".

The Great Mouse Detective

As a follow up to a previous post, I wanted to let you know that The Great Mouse Detective is no longer on the library shelf at Trinity's school. According to the librarian, it promptly went in the trash after she saw my letter.

Not only will the Kindergartners not be reading it, but none of the other kids in the school will be either.

Thanks for your interest in this.

Project 365

Sunday, November 1
Bo took this sunrise photo in our backyard at 6am. Beautiful colors.

Monday, November 2
Monday night football. All three girls playing flip with daddy. Super fuzzy photo, but it depicts the action happening here.

Tuesday, November 3
I wonder when we look at this book in 30 years, how surprised we will be by these gas prices? Will they be higher? Lower? Will gasoline be a thing of the past?

Wednesday, November 4
All three in the bath at once. Whew. High pitched squeels (Charity) and "Mine! Mine!" (Charity). Not sure if it saved any time? But they sure did have fun!

Thursday, November 5
These girls aren't very interested in TV. At the gym, they have it on all the time, but these girls keep on truckin'. I think Elmo is the first thing they have ever been interested in for 5-10 minutes. Minimal tv is a good thing in my book, but it sure is cute to see them understanding some of the Elmo concepts.

Friday, November 6
Grandma Robbie arrived with fun gifts. And then she got on the floor and played with the girls and their gifts. This is their love language right now. Time. Attention. Teaching. Interest. Thank you Grandma Robbie.

Saturday, November 7
We escaped the Sircus tonight to go to a party with my friend, Cindy. It was fun to get out and eat yummy food. Our blurry picture doesn't do it justice!

Listening

It was a busy Sunday afternoon. Busier than most, with guests in town and meals that need to be made. I hadn't yet changed my clothes from church and I was loading groceries into the house. I had my next 4 agenda items planned neatly in my head.

And then there was Trinity. With all the time in the world on her hands. She was setting up chairs in the driveway to sit. And she had her Bible ready to "read". "Mommy!", she said with a ginormous smile on her face, "do you want to sit and read the Bible with me? I learned in chapel that we should wake up in the morning and read our bible quietly before we start our day."

"Well, I have to unload the groceries, where's everyone else?" I asked. After all, there were three other adults inside the house.

"I don't know, but I want to read with you" she said as she ran inside to get us a snack and some water for our time together.

This is where the rubber meets the road for me. Every single day of my life, Sundays included, I have more to accomplish than I have hours. And man, I wanted to get started on my cooking. So that maybe, just maybe, I could rest for a while.

Deep breathe. Ponder quickly. And that still, small voice nudges me, "This is what it's ALL about. The cooking can wait."

"Okay, I'll be right back." Change my clothes and head out the garage to read a bit.

We read a few pages in her little girls' bible. We decide to sit and listen quietly. What do we hear? A few birds. A slight breeze. An airplane in the distance.

"Mommy, how do you hear God?" Powerful question from a 5 year old.

"God speaks to us through his Word, the Bible. And he speaks to us when we pray, if we are quiet long enough to listen. And sometimes, God speaks to us in our heart. We don't actually hear a voice like you are hearing mine right now. But He will speak to you if you listen."

"That's cool. Do you hear that dog barking?"

"Yes, I do."

And that was it, she was off to the next thing. And my precious time with her was over for now. Was that so hard, to sit and be? To be available? If Bo and I don't talk with her and listen to her, I know lots of other people will in her life. And it won't always be the kind of people who we want to influence her.

I am so blessed that I listened today.

Happy Halloween

Trinity and Felicity waiting to get the candy show on the road.

The Queen Kitty of the night.

Charity Grace would have nothing to do with her ears or her nose/whiskers.

There is always some drama. No mater what, you will always experience a bit of drama at the Sircus. Tonight, it was Felicity who obliged.
